Determining resource requirements for removal of waste from egg farms
These resources will assist egg farms in planning their approach to waste disposal, particularly in preparing for infectious disease in the flock. Using a risk-based approach these resources will enable egg farmers to identify the resources that would be needed on their farm to support the disposal of all types of poultry farm waste.
Management of waste streams is critical to limiting the incursion and spread of infectious poultry pathogens. Selecting the most suitable approach to waste disposal on farm can be a complex task as many factors must be considered including the type and volume of waste, the disposal options available in the area and the risk of waste spreading infectious disease. These resources will assist egg farms in evaluating the best option(s) for waste disposal, particularly in the event that there is a risk of transmitting an infectious pathogen.
